Accomplishments

The following is a list of major accomplishments during my tenure as CEO/General Manager of Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative located in eastern Idaho and southwest Montana.

  • Financially Viable Electric Cooperative – Fall River's financial strength and active cost management practices allowed the Cooperative to complete a 9-year stint with no general rate increases, and a 1.9% general rate decrease in 2022. Fall River was recognized for the fifth year in a row as one of  the Top 100 privately-owned companies in Idaho.

  • Executed Long Range Equity Goal Ahead of Schedule While Keeping Rates Competitive – When I joined Fall River in 2010, the Co-op’s equity ratio had dropped to just above 25%, dangerously close to having our lenders take greater control. Since that time we have grown our equity to nearly 50% which allows us now to use some of that equity to cushion future rate increases to our members.

  • Managing Fall River – Successfully running an electric utility generating $37M in gross revenue with net margins of $4M from electric operations and another $1.5M in net margins from our subsidiary propane operations. The Board’s support and our staff’s dedicated service and high-yield productivity makes me proud to be the leader of the Fall River team.

  • Higher System Availability

  • Lower Outage Duration (SAIDI) and Improving

  • Operation and Maintenance Expenses Below all Benchmarks

  • Administrative and General Expenses Well Below State and Supplier Benchmarks

  • Fall River’s Retail Rates are Some of the Lowest in the Nation

  • Grant Opportunities – I have proactively identified grant opportunities and worked with staff to identify grant opportunities that the Cooperative can pursue. We have completed the purchase and installation of five level 3 EV chargers and have collected grant funds from both BEF and the State of Idaho.

  • Transmission Upgrade Project – I continue to oversee progress on the transmission upgrade project. The conversion of Fall River’s West 46kV line to a 115kV line from Drummond to Macks Inn. This project requires a significant commitment of time and resources as well as the use of multiple contractors to engineer, plan, and keep the project on track with our accelerated timeline.

  • Felt Hydro Relicensing –I have been engaged in the process of overseeing and managing the work to ensure FERC relicensing our two hydroelectric facilities on the Teton River in eastern Idaho.
